Wednesdays at Pines Baptist Church. This information applies to the 2019-2020 academic year. Parents are welcome to purchase teacher manuals in addition to the required materials. We simply ask that students not be given access to teacher manuals. Teachers and times are subject to change up until the beginning of classes.
Latin II

First Form Text This second-year course builds on the foundation of Latin I using the same format of weekly grammar paradigms, vocabulary memorization, and sentence-building instruction. Second Forms will broaden vocabulary and working knowledge of Latin grammar, thus increasing their ability to see the benefits of Latin in their everyday lives.

Life Science B

Life Science Texbook The Life Science class is designed to introduce the student to important topics in Biology and impart important high school level study skills. Students will become familiar with the classification of life, cell structure, cell activities, cell cycle, protein synthesis, genetics, genetic changes, origins of life, microbiology, structure and function of plants, and plant classification and reproduction. This class continues the prior year's endeavor with a focus on Kingdom Animalia.

Writing and Grammar

IEW World History This two-strand course includes Season Two of Analytical Grammar, which teaches phrases and clauses, and the IEW World History-Based Writing Lessons, which develops skills in essay-writing. Students will gain a firm knowledge of English grammar in preparation for studying punctuation and usage in AG Season Three and to provide step-by-step instruction for writing persuasive essays. The Analytical Grammar program is used in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades.

Grades Pre-Algebra is designed to be a fun and interesting introduction to high school level mathematics. Students will cover topics like: signed numbers, mathematical properties, solving for an unknown, exponents, roots, radicals, polynomials, and an introduction to several ideas of Geometry.

Literature Using great works of literature, this course is designed to foster students’ love of reading as they encounter classic books and discuss them in class. Students will develop analytical skills in preparation for higher level course work and to enjoy great stories.
